# Crown Votes logo and brand guidelines

> Download the Crown Votes logo and crown, with the brand colours and type. The one rule: gold is a fill, never text on a light surface.

## The name

Crown Votes is where Ugandan pageants take their public vote. It is written as two words, each with a capital: Crown Votes. Not CrownVotes, Crown Vote or crown votes. The wordmark sets it in capitals, and the web address is crownvotes.com.

## Logos

Keep clear space around the logo equal to half the height of the crown. Do not recolour, stretch or rotate it, and do not add a shadow or a glow. On a light surface, the crown is ink, not gold.

### On light surfaces

- [Logo](https://crownvotes.com/images/brand/crown-votes-logo.svg): The crown and the wordmark in ink. The default for most uses.
- [Crown](https://crownvotes.com/images/brand/crown-ink.svg): The crown alone, where the name is already clear or space is short.
- [Round mark](https://crownvotes.com/images/brand/crown-circle.svg): A gold disc with the crown cut out, for avatars and app icons. The surface behind it shows through the crown.

### On dark surfaces

- [Logo, gold crown](https://crownvotes.com/images/brand/crown-votes-logo-on-dark.svg): The default on ink.
- [Logo, white](https://crownvotes.com/images/brand/crown-votes-logo-white.svg): Where gold is not available, such as one-colour print.
- [Crown, gold](https://crownvotes.com/images/brand/crown-gold.svg): The crown alone on ink.
- [Crown, white](https://crownvotes.com/images/brand/crown-white.svg): The crown alone, one colour.

## Colours

**#f0c24b on #ffffff measures 1.68:1 and fails WCAG AA outright.** Gold is a fill and an accent, never text or an icon on a light surface. Where gold-coloured text is needed on a light surface, use gold text (#8a6412, 5.37:1 on white). On ink, gold is correct as text (11.33:1).

- **Ink** `#12100c`: Text on light, dark surfaces, buttons and chips.
- **Gold** `#f0c24b`: A fill and an accent on ink. Never text on a light surface.
- **Gold gradient** `#f0c24b → #c08d16`: The deep gold fill, at 135deg.
- **Gold text** `#8a6412`: The only gold for text and icons on a light surface.
- **Paper** `#f4f2ec`: The page background.
- **Paper raised** `#f6f4ee`: Raised tiles on paper.
- **Cream** `#fbf3df`: Gold status pills, always with gold text.
- **White** `#ffffff`: Cards, and text on ink.

## Type

Figtree, at weights 400 to 800, sets everything, including every number. Instrument Serif appears only as one italic display line, never in interface text. Every vote count and money figure uses tabular figures, so digits stay in their columns as a count changes.

## Motion

- Quick and eased out, about 140 to 200ms. Motion confirms something happened; it is never a flourish.
- Every animation honours prefers-reduced-motion.
