Trust and security

A count you can trust

A crown decided by votes is only worth something if every vote is real and every shilling is accounted for. This is how Crown Votes makes sure of both.

Every vote comes from a signed-in person

There is no anonymous voting. Voters sign in with Google, Apple or an email code before they vote, which is what makes the rest of this page possible.

Free votes are limited, and we enforce the limit

Each account gets the free votes its pageant sets, usually one a day. The limit is checked on our servers when the vote is recorded, not in the page, so refreshing or opening a second tab does not add votes.

Paid votes count only once the money arrives

A paid vote counts when the mobile money network confirms the payment, never before. Pressing Pay twice for the same order does not charge you twice, and a payment confirmation we have already handled is never counted again.

Unusual votes are held, not counted

Patterns that look like abuse, such as one account buying for many contestants in quick bursts, are held for review. Held votes are not on the leaderboard. After review they either count as normal or are refunded, never both.

Counts nobody can type in

Vote counts change only when a vote is recorded. Nobody can edit a count from the public site, and the leaderboard is read straight from the same record the votes are written to.

Money you can trace to a vote

Every shilling of a pageant’s revenue is tied to the vote that paid it. Organizers only see revenue if their role allows it, and a payout is paid once to a verified account, never twice.

Your data

We never show a voter’s name, email or phone number on a leaderboard. What we collect, and why, is set out in our Privacy Policy.

Read the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy. Found a security problem? Write to hello@crownvotes.com and we will reply.
